“My work, epitomized by the ouroboros ring I’m presenting, explores the profound theme of connection in various dimensions. The ouroboros, an ancient symbol of cyclic renewal and unity, embodies a perpetual connection between beginnings and endings, mirroring the fluidity and continuity in queer experiences. As a queer artist, I infuse this symbol with personal narratives of resilience and transformation, reflecting the interconnectedness of identity, community, and history. Each piece I create is not just jewelry but a tangible manifestation of the enduring connections that define and empower us, celebrating the diverse threads that weave our stories together.”
How does your work relate to the theme connection?
What role does connection play in your creative process?
“Connection plays a central role in my creative process, serving as both a guiding principle and a source of inspiration. On a literal level, I am drawn to the physical connections in the materials I use—the way metals can be shaped, joined, and intertwined to create something entirely new. These connections are not merely functional but symbolic, representing the bonds we form in our relationships and communities.
Philosophically, connection drives my exploration of themes like identity, heritage, and transformation. I see my work as a dialogue between the past and present, merging traditional symbols like the ouroboros with contemporary designs. This dialogue reflects a broader connection between different times, cultures, and perspectives, emphasizing the fluidity of identity, particularly within the queer community. The ouroboros, in particular, symbolizes the endless cycle of renewal and continuity, echoing the constant evolution and interconnectedness of personal and collective identity.
Figuratively, connection manifests in how my work resonates with those who wear it. I strive to create pieces that not only adorn but also empower, acting as a bridge between the wearer's inner world and external expression. Each piece is designed to connect on a deeper level, sparking conversations, memories, and emotions. Through this connection, I hope to foster a sense of belonging and affirmation, particularly within marginalized communities.
In essence, connection in my creative process is about weaving together disparate elements—materials, ideas, symbols, and stories—to create something meaningful and transformative. It’s about recognizing the interconnectedness of all things and celebrating the beauty that emerges when these connections are embraced and explored. My work is a tribute to the power of connection in all its forms, a reflection of the ties that bind us to each other and to the world around us.“

What connection(s) does your queerness make to the world around you?
“My queerness profoundly shapes my connection to the world, influencing how I interact with my surroundings, community, and identity. As a queer individual, I experience life through a lens that values diversity, fluidity, and authenticity. This perspective fosters a deep empathy and appreciation for the multifaceted nature of human experience, which I channel into my creative work.
In my surroundings, my queerness drives me to explore and celebrate the intersections of tradition and modernity. I seek out spaces and materials that resonate with themes of transformation and renewal, reflecting my journey of self-discovery and acceptance. This influence is evident in the symbolic elements of my designs, such as the ouroboros, which represents cyclical growth and the continuous evolution of self.
Within my community, my queerness fuels my commitment to inclusivity and representation. I aim to create jewelry that resonates with diverse identities, celebrating the richness of queer experiences and promoting visibility. By incorporating symbols and narratives that reflect our shared struggles and triumphs, I hope to foster a sense of connection and solidarity among those who feel marginalized or unseen.
On a personal level, my queerness informs my understanding of identity as a dynamic, fluid construct. This perspective is reflected in my creative process, where I embrace the fluidity of materials and ideas to craft pieces that defy conventional boundaries. Each piece is a manifestation of my belief in the power of self-expression and the importance of embracing one's true self.
Overall, my queerness connects me to the world by driving me to challenge norms, celebrate diversity, and create meaningful dialogue through my art. It shapes how I perceive and engage with the world, imbuing my work with a sense of purpose and a commitment to fostering connections that honor and uplift the diverse tapestry of human experience.“
