My pieces tell other versions of people, I portray desires, secrets or invisible realities, giving them the freedom to be as they would really like to be but always in a fun, happy way and without fear of being what they sometimes cannot or do not dare to be.

How does your work relate to the theme connection?

My jewelry pieces address the connection between ‘I am’ and ‘I would like to be’, between what is shown and what is hidden.

Not all people have the possibility of living free, without fear and without having to hide something, I try to portray that moment of freedom sometimes so small that it becomes imperceptible."

What role does connection play in your creative process?

“The concept of connection in my pieces is constant, both in the themes and in the elements. The series of which this piece is part connects bodies with heads, seeming to have nothing in common, but they tell stories of identities, needs or dreams.”

What connection(s) does your queerness make to the world around you?

“It marks my existence and my happiness, my presence before the world exists because I am as I want to be, without having to hide or show anything, I am simply me, Esteban.”

Anything else you would like to share about this work? This can be an important part of the process, sourcing materials, or research.

“I work researching and experimenting with new techniques or processes in fired enamel, I use classical languages, aesthetics and techniques to talk about current everyday things and that leads me to re-adapt many things, it is an R&D in enamel that is often not perceptible to the viewer.”
