Queer Metalsmiths:
Honoring, centering and uplifting queer makers

Queer Metalsmiths is a community space where we honor, center and uplift 2SLGBTQIA+ jewelers, metalsmiths + makers.

Our mission is to be a safe space for queer artists to connect and support each other through visibility within the metalsmithing and craft fields.

Our community focuses on representing artists by exhibiting their work, providing educational resources, and functioning as a platform for growth and learning.

[queerphoria] vol.5: flourish
NYCJW25

As we see the rise of fascism, ongoing dehumanization and cruelty, crumbling infrastructure, the loss of healthcare and reproductive rights, and severe climate disasters, [queerphoria] returns to NYC Jewelry Week 2025 at UrbanGlass to create a space where 2SLGBTQIA+ artists feel seen, heard and free to share their stories through jewelry and adornment.

Jewelry making and craft, historically gendered and deeply cultural, are now more than ever a powerful medium for queer truth-telling. [queerphoria] volume 5: flourish builds on the previous four volumes and explores what it means to grow, evolve, and thrive as a queer artist in today’s world. This exhibition is a defiant and joyful reclamation of space- uplifting artists, planting seeds of resistance, and flourishing.

[queerphoria] volume 5: flourish is an in-person and virtual exhibition showcasing international 2SLGBTQIA+ artists exploring themes of flourishing in adornment and sculpture. This year, [queerphoria] vol 5: flourish is being curated by Queer Metalsmiths’ co-founder Tracey Carswell along with co-founder Sol Diaz and Naomi Johnson as guest jurors. The exhibition will take place from November 18th-22nd, 2025 at Urban Glass.

Stay tuned for [queerphoria] vol.5

MAGG x Queer Metalsmiths Community Open House-POSTPONED

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to postpone our event. Stay tuned for the new date in 2026!

Join Queer Metalsmiths Atlanta for an evening of creativity and community at the Metal Arts Guild of Georgia! Come ready to show off your favorite work and get to know local metalsmiths and makers through our Show and Tell speed friending event. While light bites and drinks will be provided, we encourage guests to bring a potluck dish to share with the community. Take a tour of the new facilities, and make sure to stick around for a special sand casting project with instructor Jay Reddish.

This event is open to all. We ask that all attendees honor this intention: to uplift trans and queer people, and to build a welcoming, inclusive community for everyone.

This event is free to attend, but please make sure to RSVP!

Unable to make this event, but still want to be included in future communications about Queer Metalsmiths Atlanta and MAGG events? Go ahead and fill out the RSVP form - there is a question on the form where you can specify that you wish to be included in future communications.
